This little accessory could transform your life (or at least, your wardrobe):

Some inventions are so clever! Just so clever! Ipods. Toilets. Cars. Detachable collars are probably not as useful as those three inventions however, like all good inventions it solved my problem.

Well not all my problems. I am still a troubled soul. Sigh. So what was my problem, you ask? Well-ity, let me explain. I have a blouse that I bought and it has only recently struck me that said blouse, while being quite nice, is a little too uniform-looking. SO HOW TO MAKE IT MORE INTERESTING.

ANSWER: DETACHABLE COLLARS.

The recent Karl collection for Netaporter featured an abundance of cool stuff, including these detachable collars:

OM NOM SEQUINS.

Detachable collars (or collar necklaces) are by no means new (Wiki says they go back to the 1800s), however, they are still very much a good invention that could actually save you a lot of money! They have the power (YES, POWER!) to give life to old sweaters and t-shirts. THEY HAVE THE POWER TO CHANGE LIFES. Before I start a nonsensical dramatic rant, here are some very cute pieces THAT WILL MAKE YOU A BETTER PERSON.

SONIA BY SONIA RYKIEL Silk-crepe collar £33.33 - Netaporter

(On a completely unprofessional note, the model's expression in the second picture is making me giggle. What a strange expression!)

And if you are a creative soul who is actually good at making things, you might want to look into the DIY alternative, à la the lovely blogger of Yesterday's Sweetheart:

Just give the image a click and get started! Although if you are like me and struggled to make simple boxing shorts as part of a year 7 assessment, then maybe it's best to get your detachable collar from the shops! Although my sister's pearl necklace randomly just fell apart the other day - maybe it is a sign that I must allow myself to make this collar and transform into a DIY goddess.

And now looking back on this post, I've realised I have been in a rather strange mood today. It's probably because I'm a little upset that the great invention that is detachable collars wasn't my idea!
