Attention to shoulder detail

Lets face it, shoulders are a pretty important part of a great shirt. Too narrow and you'll end up bursting out of the shirt, while if they're too wide, you can end up looking like a kindy kid 'growing into' their school uniform (and this is a lie, all you fellow miniature kindy kids know, this most definitely does not happen).

Over the decades the world of fashion has seen its fair share of shoulder trends; the (in)famous shoulder pads of the 70s & 80s, tweeny off the shoulder cropped shirts and, of course, last seasons one-shouldered dress trend which is bound to return this spring, just to name a few.

This season though, one of the most popular trends we've seen is embellished shoulders or just shirts with a little more attention on the shoulders.

Dotti Drop Hem Black Shirt $39.95 Sportsgirl Navy Buttoned-Front Blouse $99.95 Tokito Viscose Lace Cow Neck Top $39.95

Otherwise plain shirts are jazzed up a bit with glamorous detail on the shoulders in the form of embroidery, patchwork, leather, lace... pretty much anything really!

And as you can see from this gorgeous Review dress, embellished shoulders aren't just restricted to tops.

Review Flower Petal Dress Grey Marle $199.95

Though the dress itself is a little plain with the grey marle look, the shoulders add a bit of girlyness and character to the lovely v-neck piece.

Here, Ashley Greene sports metallic detailed shoulders with her ruched black dress...

And on the other end of the spectrum, Portmans are giving a lot of detail to shoulders as well. Your shoulders that is. :)
